I bought the Jeep Gladiator Overland model with most of the bells and whistles. Jeep knocked the sticker from $54K down to $46K as this model hasn't been flying off the lots. My take is that's going to change. I've been using the car around town, gone on a long road trip and taken a few bad dirt roads. My other cars are BMW's (SUVs, sport sedans) and this car is as if not more fun to drive. The long wheelbase is notable for damping out the bumpy and tweaky ride from the Wrangler. Handling (unladen) is precise and predictable. Driving is quite comfortable (I'm 6'3") although the legroom to the pedals is not optimal. There is plenty of room to stretch your legs behind the pedals when using cruise control, however. My wife is accustomed to her X5 and comfortable either driving or as a passenger. Acceleration performance is adequate. The engine is smooth and there's enough power to do anything we've needed to thus far. The 8 speed transmission is the same design as our BMWs (!) and in all 8 speed FiatChrysler vehicles (they licensed the design from BMW). It optimizes the engine power well on climbs in freeway driving. 285 horsepower for a 4,800 lb vehicle sounds low but works so far. Braking is very good and quite controllable. It handles better than my 2005 4Runner did for surprise stops - again, the long wheel base probably helps. Rutted, poorly maintained dirt road driving was fun. It's definitely a Jeep. The ride was good; it handles the bumps with grace and the truck always felt in full control. Finally, the truck is just fun. Take the roof off. It's a visceral drive like the old Porsches. There's nothing else like it on the roadd.
    • Love the Gladiator...could have a few more bells

I leased this truck (yes, I'm calling it a truck) and it is amazing. I splurged for the Rubicon and I'm glad I did. It's a great Jeep. Suspension, comfort, power, everything is amazing. As a top of the line Jeep, I would think it would have a few more bells and whistles. Rear heated seats, Heated and cooling seats, etc.
