History Report
A vehicle history report yields valuable information about your used truck, including prior owners, maintenance history, and whether it has been in any collisions. This gives you a clearer idea of the condition the vehicle is in beyond just what the eye test can tell you. All certified pre-owned vehicles in our inventory come with a history report, as do most non-certified pre-owned cars.
Inspect Individual Components
Visually inspect individual parts that are most pertinent to a pickup truck. For example, look at the bed liner. Does it have visible cracks or splits? The same goes for the tires, which are subject to greater wear and tear if the prior owner used the vehicle extensively for heavy hauling.
Research the Model
Do some homework about the specific truck model and year. Did it receive any major accolades at the time of its release? The Chevy Silverado for the 2023 model year, for example, was named by The Drive as the Best Truck of 2023. Its cousin, the Chevy Colorado, was listed as a runner-up. These accolades aren’t a make-or-break variable, but they do lend credence to the model’s reliability.
Schedule a Test Drive
A test drive is the ultimate feel-out process. Does it handle well for a model of its class? Does it respond well when cornering, and can you anticipate it handling reasonably well when making the same maneuver with a heavy load?
